A western for three dancers.
The starting point of this project is the cult film by Sergio Leone "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". This is not a tale of nice folk confronting bad folk in a spaghetti western. The main character is a mercenary anti-hero or highwayman, unshaven, and wearing soiled clothing. He serves no noble cause and only looks out for his own interests, attracted by the lure of money or the settling of old scores.
These three characters intrigue me; they are ‘viscerally’ human. A fragile set of alliances exists between these three individuals in search of something. The constantly changing power plays: good and evil, victim and executioner, hunter and prey, victory and defeat. A universe at once entertaining, violent and nostalgic. A kind of magic in a genre that became serious and even depressing...
TUCO is one of three heroes of the film; he personifies childish greed, facing life like a game. He is the most humane of the three protagonists in this picaresque fresco. A primary being, he is violent, loud, devious, stubborn and greedy, and his “revealed” side is sensitive, loyal, sweet, radiant and lost. He is ambivalent: he is a double meaning, because he is the balance between good and evil, the adult and the child, unconscious of danger and because he is a hero who does not win.
